Fractional Principal Product Designer · Payments & AI Infrastructure

I work on one problem: making money movement simple and AI decisions legible — for the operators your business depends on.

Fifteen years, treated as a single line of inquiry: payment configuration, settlement dashboards, treasury workflows, and AI explainability for non-technical stakeholders. The method is consistent — embed with the team, ship the hard screens, measure whether operator judgment improved, and leave the system better than I found it.

Redesigning money movement at $26B+ scale

End-to-end design across card issuing, ledger operations, cross-border transfers, and real-time settlement. Manual intervention fell 90% — and the durable finding was that trust in complex systems is designable, and that it transfers.

Rebuilding deposit confidence from the ground up

A retention problem, reframed as a legibility problem. Fund transfers rose 46% quarter over quarter — a direct demonstration that trust has a P&L.

Making AI decisions legible before "AI explainability" had a name

Led 0-to-1 design of ModelEdge — data lineage, model audit, decisions flagged when they drift outside acceptable parameters. The results were encouraging enough to carry a 10-customer pilot to general availability.

Designing trust where product failure has human consequences

Designed and scaled digital protection and physical security applications for Human Rights Defenders in high-risk contexts. The discipline of designing for trust in environments where ambiguity is dangerous carries directly into financial product design.

Vigil — Fintech AI & Data Hub

0-to-1 AI platform for fintech data orchestration

The central question: can a CFO audit a model’s reasoning without becoming a data scientist? We are finding out in production — natural language queries over multi-source payment data, with full lineage tracing.

DesignProof — Measurement Intelligence In Progress

Every design leader gets the same question from the CFO. None of them have a good answer.

The honest answer to the CFO has always been “we can’t measure it.” I find that unsatisfying. DesignProof treats attribution as a data problem rather than a rhetorical one.

Fieldtrip to AI — Agentic UX Patterns In Progress

We spent 20 years designing tools people use. Now the tools use themselves.

A live research project on agentic interaction: delegation contracts, interrupt pricing, confidence calibration, and trust recovery when agents fail. Games taught this field that you learn fastest in constrained environments.

"In financial infrastructure, the product is not the transaction. It is the operator's confidence that the transaction did what it was supposed to do. If the operator doesn't trust the system, the end user never will. That confidence can be designed deliberately — I have spent fifteen years collecting the evidence."
— Operating Philosophy
How I Work

Most fintech design optimizes for the end user. I design for the operator — the person configuring payout rules, tracing flagged transactions, and deciding whether to believe what the AI just concluded.

Whether someone is protecting their physical safety or managing treasury payouts, the design principle is the same: show the state clearly, confirm the action explicitly, never leave someone wondering what happened.

Trust compounds when this is done well, and collapses instantly when it isn’t. It is not a complicated principle. It simply has to be applied without exception.

01

Money movement at scale: Redesigned card issuing, settlement, and payout systems processing $26B+ annually — reducing manual intervention by 90% at Galileo

02

AI explainability: Made opaque AI model decisions legible and contestable for compliance officers, risk managers, and CFOs — from ModelEdge at PwC to Vigil today

03

Deposit & treasury UX: Rebuilt a dashboard with poor retention from the ground up — fund transfers increased 46% Q/Q, deposit-to-withdrawal ratio nearly doubled at Treasure Finance

04

0-to-1 & 0-to-acquisition: Led product design from inception through exit — TaxVerse was acquired by Avalara (subsequently purchased by Vista for $8.4B)

05

Trust in high-stakes contexts: Designed security applications for 130K Human Rights Defenders — the discipline of designing where failure has real consequences carries directly into financial product work
